At last I got my iPhone 3Gs to work with the amazing Push notifications, all what I have done is installing Push Doctor from Cydia, which is a new app added to Cydia, it depends on a unique certificate, and thus the number of certificates is limited, check this link for more info

what I’m benifiting most from this push is the Gmail Push, WhatsApp messenger, iSoccer, Rss, Notifications and more.

Get cydia apps for free

A great source was added recently to cydia, that adding it will allow you to download cydia paied applications for free.
Open cydia
Click on manage.
Click on Sources.
Click on edit then on Add at the top left corner.
Write the following source link:

Once done browse it to download your favorite app from cydia for free.

PDF Reader | GoodReader

The best till now to be used as a pdf reader is the GoodReader, for free you can download the goodreader lite from iTunes, which is limited to 5 pdf files at a time which you can upload using wifi connectivity.
if you want the Goodreader Pro you have to pay or to follow my hack app installation :)
why it is one of the best? because you can view the pdf in a normal pdf view or using the ocr tec you can read it with text wrapping so no scroll is needed.
You can organize your filed in different folders.
You can protect the pdf file with a password.
Y can move pdf to different folders. and many many more

if your iphone is jailbreak and shh enabled, you can upload your apps directly through any software (SFTP, winssh, iphone suite, iphone explorer)
How?
when you are installing the application using installous, check at the end of the log file, the path where the app was installed, follow it and in the document folder add your pdf,

After trying many software the best software ever to interact with your SSH iphone is the iPhone PC suite which is known as the 91 PC for iPhone.
it is the best to mange your files, upload and download applications, and guess what, it is the best to install cydia apps on your iphone, unlike Cyder, pc suite will install cydia apps in a smart way, including installing related packages once you select to download an app with related packages, it is fast and reliable.
don't panic you'll get it first in Chinese, just select English from the drop down list once you install it. where is the menu :) you have to figure it out.

including the above it is great for managing sms and contacts including exporting and importing, as well as backing up all your iphone data,

you cannot upload and download videos and songs using this software but you can do all the rest. (including adding bookmark to safari)

Count Characters of messages on iPhone

Knowing the number of characters while typing a message is an essential option which we are missing in the iphone, well no more, a very simple solution came out through Cydia for jailbroken iphones, SMSHelper, simply download it using cydia and that's it.

The best thing is having the iPhone 3Gs 32GB, what i have on it is 8 dvd, my favorite, i bought as well the tv connector from eBay not the Apple original one but a very less expensive one for just $5, now to get your iPhone play the DVD on your TV screen using iPod, requires a jail break iPhone.

you will see a file called : iapd rename it : iapd.3.1.2 <--- or the version firmware u have

Install Hacked Applications on your iPhone or iPod Touch

Today I’m introducing a way to download applications to your iPhone, BUT totally for free, totally hacked applications,

Jailbreak iPhone or iPod Touch running 2.2 or higher os.

Cydia.

How to do it?

Open Cydia and add this source: http://cydia.hackulo.us/

After installing search for Installous and install it.

Reboot your device by clicking on the home and power at the same time till the Apple logo appears, disregard when asked to slide to turn off your iPhone keep on pressing.

After rebooting, you will find Installous in your application, open it wait till Appulous browser appears and start searching for cracked applications.

When you find your application, scroll down and click on the version to download, then select from where you want to download it in case there are more than one source.

You will be asked to Download or to Install the application, choose Download if you want to keep it for later.

After Download complete, click on the Downloads section at the bottom of your installous Application, you will find there the app you want to install click on it and hit install,

Enjoy

The Downloaded applications will be saved to the below folder in your iPhone:

/private/var/mobile/library/Downloads

If you want to keep your applications for later simply copy them from the above listed folder to your pc or mac.

Best Practice:

Download all your needed application from this website using your pc browser:

http://appulo.us/appdb/

Then copy the downloaded applications to /private/var/mobile/library/Downloads

open Installous on your iPhone, click on Downloads you will see your downloaded application there click on it and then click install.

Although there is an option in installous to sync with iTunes, and it did this, but removing it from your iPhone to get it back from iTunes will result an error thus you have to reinstall it again using installous.

Still I need to check if when there is an available update will the iTunes update those apps or will overwrite the cracked application?

Change iPhone Text "Slide to...." Advanced Tutorial"

In this tutorial I will explain on how to change the Text messages on your iPhone including: Slide to Unlock, Slide To Cancel, Slide to Turn off, Slide to Answer.... This is some how advanced tutorial, not for many, but I rather call it advanced as it require file data modifications directly on your iPhone. Requirements for the Tutorial:
1. Jailbreak iPhone
2. Ability to Read and Write files on your iPhone (check this Tutorial before you continue)
3. Winterboard which you can download from Cydia to control showing or hiding our personal messages in this tutorial.
4. Notepad or any text editor :)
5. The will to do it.

Lets get started:
First on your desktop create a folder name it "Personal-text" or any other thing to identify it. in this folder create another folder call it "Bundles" Case sensitive without the quotes. in the Bundles folder create a folder name it "com.apple.springboard" In this folder create another folder name it "en.lproj" just copy and past the names from here. now in this folder finally :) create a new text document and paste the below code in it:

"AWAY_LOCK_LABEL" = "Welcome Alex";
"POWER_DOWN_LOCK_LABEL" = "Turn iPhone Off" ;
"SLIDE_TO_ANSWER" = "Answer Me" ;
"SLIDE_TO_LISTEN" = "Listen?" ;
"SLIDE_TO_CALL_BACK" = "Call Back?" ;
"SLIDE_TO_CANCEL" = "Cancel Sync" ;
"SMS_LOCK_LABEL" = "Slide To Read" ;

As you may notice form the above, you need to change the text to the right to what ever you like make sure it is not more than around 16 characters or they will not show on your screen. now save this file, and close it, then change its name and extension from example "new text.txt" to SpringBoard.strings you will be asked if you want to change the extension of this file click yes. now this file should be in a location similar to the below link:

Desktop\Personal-text\Bundles\com.apple.springboard\en.lproj

Now close all the opened folders and open WinSCP to brows the iPhone files.(check this tutorial) once you are there navigate to the below link:

/private/var/stash/Themes.VGgxXH/

Copy the folder we have created on the Desktop: "Personal-text" and paste it int the above location. disconnect your iPhone, click on WinterBoard and choose "Personal-text" from the list :)

exit WinterBoard. You are done :)

First you need to have a Jailbreak iPhone before continue on reading the below:
What is needed for the job?

Download from Cydia BossPreference
Download from Cydia OpenSSH
Download WinScp for windows There is no software for Mac now, if you found one please post it here.

After assuring the download of the above, find your iPhone’s ip by going to (on your iphone) settings > Wi-Fi > “Your selected WiFi” > Look under IP Address- Connect to your iPhone using WinSCP (user: root password: alpine) Change File Protocol to SCP

Just press login after your screen on WinScp

click on the “..” until you see root, then click on the applications folder and put your downloaded .app program inside by dragging and dropping.

and you are done :)

Connecting your iphone to pc is one thing and browsing through different files and folder is another thing :) we'll discuss later where needed

A+ Talking Altimeter

Living in a country like Lebanon, with its wonderful mountains, you will find the A+ Talking Altimeter a good application to check at what height from sea level you are.

Upon testing the application I found it prity accurate that you can count on just give it up to 30 sec in clear sky to get the perfect result.

I have to switch the sound off as in Lebanon the height will change every one sec and you will keep hearing the sound saying “Altitude Changed”.

Install it from the Apple application store for Free.

iPhone 3G GPS Applications

Which is the best iPhone 3G application? a question I have asked it to my self and thus I have tested many which you can find in Apple Store or on Cydia (jailbreak iPhone application).

Being in Lebanon, there are no directions yet all we have is a detailed Beirut map and just main roads for the other cities (fair for now),

I was amazed by the iPhone build in GPS it is accurate to a nearly 2 to 5 meters when in open sky, and i had the opportunity to test it yesterday when it was so cloudy and it was working great as well.

I am testing and loving 3 applications using the GPS:

Google Maps

xGPS

iMapmyhike

Maps: Maps is the built in GPS application provided by Google. This application is a great application but as we are in Lebanon there is nothing much to expect from it except having fun seeing yourself running across streets,and find me, you cannot use the Get Directions option, you cannot save your map, you cannot upload a map and most two things I don't like about is that it requires internet connection and it don't support cache. Sure in Lebanon we still don't have neither Edge or 3G we are counting on the GPRS which is rather expensive, so i looked for another application which don't require internet and i found:

xGPRS: xGPRS is a great application that only Jailbreak iPhone can download it using Cydia (This is the case in Lebanon). What i like about this application:
- You can use it while offline: There are two ways to do this, first is to browse the map using search on your iPhone and use several zooming options for the areas you want to visit, the data will be saved on your iPhone to be used later offline, or you can use the PC software by which you can download several areas with several zooming capabilities making it so fun.Read more and download here.
- I like the arrow showing your direction as you are not shown as a lit circle, and the option that the map rotates, so you will not be going forward but shown on the map going downward(south).
- Turn by Turn navigation and sound assistance which is coming later to this software where you can upload your own root. This is awesome.
- IT IS FREE. It is a Must Have Application Thank you xGPS Team for your great work.
To download xGPS on your iPhone: Search for xGPS in Cydia and download it it is around 4.6 MB and there are reports of fail installation from the first time keep on trying where you have good connection to the network.

iMapmyhike:a wonderful free application provided by Apple Store, what are the good things about this application?
- This application is capable of recording your rout and then save it to your account at mapmyhike.com
- Sound assistance on the number of Km/Miles covered and the time period as you go.
- screen lock option to save power while on the go
- Lots of useful info that can be accessed easily while doing your favorite outdoor sport.
- The best thing I like it is that after saving your rout map over the internet you can upload it directly to your blog, Save as GPX, Save for Garmen, Save for Google earth. and sure sharing your map with all your friends

Three applications all for free that having them together you'll have all the fun and outdoor experience you want.

One of the first I recommend to install from Cydia if your iPhone is jailbreak, How to do it? 1. Make sure you are connected to the internet.
2. Using Cydia, Download winterboard (just search for it using Cydia search)
3. in Cydia, search for liveclcok, and select LiveClock, from ispazio (system)
4. Click on install, after installing the iphone will refresh your springboard.
5. By default the clock will be activated but you still can choose to un activate it, change its color to black, or remove the seconds using winterboard.

Koi: My Favorite Relaxing Application

One of the first applications I have bought ($0.99) from iTunes was Koi.
Koi gives you a moment of relaxation playing with water tapping and dragging feeding fish, it is not a game it is not pet raising lifetime game, it is just your application to open when you feel you need a time with your self. Cydia: My Favorite Must Download - 1

The first thing I do when I jailbreak my iPhone after updating its OS is to install useful applications from Cydia, it took me a while to figure out what are the must have applications as you have to try and test, I came out with a list that i can't live without now, I will post a How To for every application here as well:
1. LiveClock: Animated real time clock on your springboard.
2. BackGrounder: Open multiple applications on your iphone at the same time
3. CyCorder: Record video on your non 3GS iPhone.
4. MxTube: Stream and DOWNLOAD videos from YouTube
5. WinterBoard: Control themes downloaded from cydia making your iphone stand out.
6. asBattery: Toggle Hide or Show Battery percentage on your iPhone and iPhone 3G Note that some applications might drain your battery especially on the iPhone 3G with 3.0 os installed, hopping that this will be fixed in the coming 3.1 os.

How to Activate Battery Percentage On iPhone 3.0

Most of us want to have a percentage next to the battery symbol at the top right of your iphones, well this option was introduced by Apple in the new iPhone 3GS as a default option in the settings>General>usage
well you can make it yours by following the simple steps below:

1. you should have a jailbreak iPhone
2. Add the source: http://apt.iphone-storage.de in cydia
3. Install asBattery
4. Reboot your iPhone (Click on the home and sleep button at the same time till you see the apple logo)
5. Congratulations toggle it in: Settings>General>Usage (Same as iPhone 3Gs)
